Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

What do I do regarding biological father?

Long story short I hope. I have a four month old daughter. The biological father lives two hours away in Missouri. I have not heard from him since before she was born. We had phone communication on and off during pregnancy. Mostly off though. He broke it off when I was two months pregnant. I filed for child support in early January. The case is still pending. I notified his parents when my daughter was born since I have no way of contacting the father. Question: What rights does he have? He is bi-polar and has lots of issues. Can I have his rights terminated? I would rather do that than get child support. I filed due to pressure from family and friends. Basically I don't know where to go from here. I would like something to be in writing that I have sole custody of her. Is that possible? Should I just wait it out and see what happens? Please advise.

Re: What do I do regarding biological father?

You can file a petition to determine paternity in Kansas. Within that case you can reques the court to provide an order as to custody. It is than you should request sole custody. You can also request the court to issue orders as to visitation. I would suggest supervised visitation at your discreation.
