Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

car title

If your car title says both your name and your husband's name (and/or) how does this get changed and does it need to be changed in a divorce especially if I decide to pay off the car loan?

Re: car title

Yes, u should address the titling of vehicles in a divorce settlement; the vehicle shld be listed by VIN in your Decree and to whom it is to be set aside. Remember that 3rd party creditors are not held by this decree, meaning, if both parties divorcing are on a note to pay for the vehicle and one does not pay. ..the creditor can go after the other for payment, regardless of what the domestic court has ordered. And/or wouold indicate a joint ownership in KS. . .I assume you would retitle it in your name or his.
