Re: Child custody

There are two kinds of legal custody: 1) Sole Legal Custody, which means one parent decides all child-related issues; and 2) Joint Legal Custody, which means both parents have a voice in the decision-making process when it comes to child-related issues such as education, helath and religious upbringing.

Residency refers to where the child lives. It may be with one or both parents or with a nonparent.

Both areas are determined by the court or agreed upon by the parents after examining the best interests of the child.
