child custody

My husband wants to adopt my three year old daughter. Her father has never even seen her and bailed when i told him i was pregnant and never came back. Now i have no idea where he is or even how to get ahold of him. I have had the same job since the time he bailed so he could have found me if he wanted to. Do we have to find him for my husband to adopt our daughter?

At the least, you will need to serve your child's father with Notice of a impending Termination of Parental rights action and the adoption attempt. The Court may allow you to do service by publicaiton only, if his whereabout cannot be determined after a serious attempt to investigate.
