Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I have been common law with the same man for roughly 12yrs.,in that time we have bought a home(In his name), he had car lot come take my tahoe(Though I made payments) he closed both bank accounts,opening others in his name only, cell phone i use now is in his name, he claimed me & my son as dependaents on his taxes the year i was disabled being diagnost with cancer. Have no $$,have no vehicle $$, how do i get an attorney to help when i have nothing but disability check that amounts tonothing! HELP!! He even as pesonal things he refuses to let me get frm the house,he went 2 jail 4 Dv & the police said i no longer resided there, i could not remove any property,though i had only been gone couple weeks, had been back multitude of times staying night, mail still goes there....WHAT DO I DO?? HELP!!

It sounds like you may need to bring a small claims case about your personal items or their value. You said the house was in his name and you did not pay rent. If you are nto found to be married, then you will have to face possible back rent claim as retrubution for any claim you make toward the house. If you are marired, then the house is a marital asset, and everythign is part of the divorce. You should consutl direclty with a family alw attorney in your area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. You need them to investige to see if you can be viewed as married in the eyes of the Court.
