Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I want custody of my daughter

I would like to have custody of my 18 month old daughter. We have tried joint custody, without involving any outside services, to no avail. She gets upset about something, and then she wants to take me to court, get my money, sue me, and everything else. It seems that she is using the system to hold over my head. We have a very comfortable agreement; I have her one week, she has her one week, and on and on. No money changes hands, just take care of her when we have her. She is a 26 year old woman who has never been on her own, and she is now figuring out that she can't afford the lifestyle she wants, and her 30 hour a week job won't pay for it. I work 60-70 hrs. per week, and have no trouble taking care of my daughter when I have her. There's a lot more, but you get the jist. Please point me in some direction, a referral, something, I want this put to rest so that she can't hold it over me.

Re: I want custody of my daughter

Assuming that your divorce was granted in Kansas, in order to have the child custody and parenting time modified, you will have to show the court there has been a material change in circumstances since entry of the last order which warrants the modification you are requesting. Keep in mind that the court must consider what is in the best interest of the child. I would suggest you retain an attorney to advise you.
