Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Cutting a family member out of your life.

Can you sequester a family member, i.e. your mother, from your life, meaning they cannot be directly involved in any way, and impose no restrictions on you, once you become 18, if you so choose?

Re: Cutting a family member out of your life.

many parents use the phrase "as long as you're living under my roof, you'll ...", because when you turn eighteen, you can move out and be in control of yoru own life. You do nto have to accept their medical or automobile insurance, money, advice or guidance. The parent no longer has the right to control yoru actions, unless, you are using chidl support paments from them to go to college. In that casem they may have some say over some of your options. Otherwise, you can be completely n your own, if you wish.

Good Luck
