Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
I'm deploying in a week or two and my wife is 6 months pregnant. I want to divorce her but I don't want to leave my newborn unsupported since my income is the only thing they'll have. My wife is also threatening me with either fighting me for full custody of our child or trying to put him up for adoption as soon as he's born. Can she do that?

Obvously, absent a find of unfitness as aparent, yoru sife will ahve custody while you are away. She probably will not be able to put the child up for adoption while you are away on active duty, without your consent. Since you are married now, your wife and child WILL get support, or your CO will be forced to discipline you. The support will come from the Dept of the Treasury probably before your pay, so it will probably be automatically deducted from what you recieve. If you are conviced that the marriage cannot be saved, then you need to meet direclty with a family law attorney in your area before you deploy.
Good luck
