Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
Divorce Debt
In my divorce papers it states that he assumed all debt. He has now filed bankruptcy. All the bills are now coming in my name. Am I responsable for these bills? Should I send the collectors a copy of the divorce papers?

Re: Divorce Debt
Unless your debtors agreed to your divorce decree, the debts that belonged to both of you before the divorce, still subject you to collection and litigation. You might have your divorce attorney enter an appearance in your ex's bankruptcy case. PErhaps some of the debts can be deemed not dischargeable, or made part of a repayment plan.
Good Luck
