Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
divorce
This is for a friend. He was married, his wife had a baby. He found out that she messed around on him, and is sure the kid is not his. She left him, with the kid, 2 years ago. She has filed for divorce, and wants child support. How can he legally find out if the kid is his, before he pays a dime. She says he HAS to pay, no matter what. Not if it's not his kid, right? HELP! THANKS!

Re: divorce
Your friend needs to hire an attorney to respond to the divorce action and bring the issue of paternity before the court for decision. He can ask the court to order everyone to submit to DNA tests. He has the burden of proof. He is currently presumed to be the father unless he proves otherwise.
