Temporary Orders are sometimes signed by the judge when a divorce is filed. Those Orders may contain a provision that prevents insurance from being modified or cancelled. Check your paperwork. If you are referring to final divorce orders, the availability of insurance normally depends on the insurance company's rules. A spouse may have COBRA continuation coverage available for up to 36 months after the divorce. Consult an experienced family law attorney.
