Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
i have a friend who is adopted, she will be 17 november 9th and her adoptive family wants to move to utah in december she doesn't want to go with them. oh and her mother is sometimes physically abusive but she is always mentally, emotionally, and verbaly abusing her. She wants to get "emancipated" or just move out but she knows her family wont sign the papers. is there anything else she can do? she needs to get out of her house, or she could possibly do harm to herself she already takes consulling because her mother.

Your friend can Petion the Court for an order of emancipation. In the alternative, or in addition, she can report the abuse. She can call the police when it happens, or report to chidlren's services that it has s happened over a period of time.
