Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
My husband got behind in his child support from MO and KS scheduled a court date. He was able to find work before that date and has been paying since, yet they have sent him two more dates for a continuance. Is it legal for them to keep doing this, and wouldn't it almost be a form of Harassment by trying to hold this over his head until the moment he does not pay? Why is it that if he gets $2500 in arrears they hound him, and my ex is over $100,000 in arrears and they do nothing?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Your husband can request that the case be heard, but he risks getting foudn in contempt for getting in arears. Perhaps the best thing is that they hav ento made him come to court. As to yrou ex, perhaps you should hire an attorney to collect the support arrearage.
