Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Is it illegal to leave your car running with you standing beside it with your 12 and 13 year old children in the car. The policeman said it was child endangerment because the children could jump behind the wheel and take off.

What entails child endangerment, is very fact specific. I think a good lawyer could defend you from such a charge.
