Insurance for children of divorce

I have two children ages 13 and 15. When I was first divorced, I had both children on my insurance. My ex agreed to pay x amount in child support, and I would take care of everything for the children which includes insurance coverage.He left his job leaving me to pay for everything and insurance. I had to go on assistance, and my children were given a medical card. Then he comes back and starts working again, I start to get some child support, which knocks me out of line for assistance, but not enough from child support to support and pay insurance. Once again he has left his job, I am stuck paying $258.00 a month in insurance, with a $500.00 per child deductable. Both children have asthma. I can not risk taking them on and off my insurance, for fear they will not be able to get back on if I go on assistance again.

Is there any way that I can get a medical card, or HealthWave through Blue Cross Blue Shield until the children are 18 and not have to worry about being denied when he starts to pay again?

KS has enabled every child access to medical insurance, have u contacted the state authorities? Your access will probably depend on income available to you, but I understand your concern with continuity of coverage. I assume the court is aware of the inconsistent support? SRS, Court Trustee notified? They should all assist you. Good luck.
