Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Jurisdiction (adoption)

We are in the process of a step-parent adoption. I have a MO lawyer and she has informed me that I need to file a motion in KS to have jurisdiction changed. Is this something I can file myself, or do I need a KS lawyer? How much will it cost? and how long will it take? We have already done our criminal checks and my ex has signed his papers agreeing to the adoption.
