Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
Did a lawyer discriminate?
I recently moved my childrent to another State with a judges permission. This same judge stated that since I chose to move my children then the father gets the entire 3 months of summer for visitation. I let this go one summer to see how it would work out. After the father took away my son's cell phone, would not give up information for internet access, would not take my children for summer activities and refused to cooperate, avoiding court orders I asked that he get this reduced to 6 weeks. The judge again stated that because he is a father and the lawyers are fathers that it is only right for ''this'' father to get the entire summer and now gets spring break as well. Is this an appropriate reaction from a Judge?

Re: Did a lawyer discriminate?
You don't say which state the order is out of. It doesn't sound like a standard Texas "over 100 miles" possession and access order, although orders can vary based on the facts, especially if you are the one who moved away.
I know it's not what you want to hear, but you need to understand that when the children are with dad, he gets to decide what they get to do or not do, what privileges they get, and how they spend their time. He doesn't get to say what they do and participate in when they're with you; you don't get to say what they do when they're with him. Just because he's not doing what you want isn't grounds to reduce his period of possession.
I'm not sure what the lawyers being fathers has to do with anything. Some of us are mothers and some have no children at all. If this is a Kansas order you need to discuss this with a Kansas attorney.
