Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
How to locate an adopted child.
In 1967 I was engaged and living with my fiance. At the time she was pregnant. I joined the Navy and 2 month after being in the Navy, she wrote me a "Dear John" letter, returned my engagement ring and told me she had miscarried. Years later, one of her friends told me she did not miscarry, but had a baby girl and put her up for adoption. I would like to find my daughter and would like to know if I have any legal recourse.

Re: How to locate an adopted child.
You do not have any legal recourse. Your "daughter" is now 33 years old. I suggest that contacting her may not be the best idea. You are a stranger to her and her family. You have no idea of what she believes occurred. Why risk potential disruption in her life to satisfy your curiosity? However, if you are adamant, there are a number of services, many on the internet, where you can list your name and a short history of your situation. If she is looking for you chances are good she will visit these services. You may also contact the mother and see what she knows.
Remember you may be setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment. While you are a sperm donor, you are not a father figure.
