Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Moving at the age of 17?

I am 16, going to turn 17 on August 24th. What I want to know is what can I do without going to court, seeing as my mom and dad, at a young age of me, went to court over custody of me, and I don't really want to go through that, if I can move out of my mom's house?

I live with my aunt, my mom, my cousin, and soon my aunt's boyfriend is going to move in. We live in a small house, I have been under stress since the move from Missouri, which previously being without propane for 5 months or more.

My dad has an ok job, but I don't really want to live with him because of past experiences of being with him. Right now in school I have practicaly straight F's and I am intelligent, as I'm told. I love to learn, but I just don't feel like doing my school work anymore. I really want to move out, because I am really sick of being under this amount of stress. But since my parents are a drag down on what I could do with my life right now, I'm practicaly hopeless. I appreciate your time in answering my question, hopefully I can do what I'd like to beable to do.

Re: Moving at the age of 17?

I would suggest filing a motion for emancipation. Contact an attorney for help. You will need to show you can support yourself.
