My dad suffers from dementia, and my step mother won't take any action to get him to a doctor. What choices do I have as his son? Social Services hasn't helped either.

Re: Parent with dementia

You may have to have your father made a ward of the state. If you are in South Carolina and your father is in Kansas, what are the indicia of dementia? I am unsure what you mean by "social services is no help" If you feel that your father is being abused by denial of medicla care taht he cannot get for himself, then you call the police. They will contact the pertinent agencies to help further.

If you go to Kansas, perhaps you can convince your father to go to a doctor. This is not always a comfortable situation where there is step-parent that may not agree with the child.
