Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Paternity

I have recenty been contacted by an ex-girlfriend who is claiming that I may be the father of her 6 month old son. I am, however, not the father listed on his birth certificate. Am I required to ake a paternity test?

Re: Paternity

If she or the state file against you for child support you might be required to submit to a paternity test.

Re: Paternity

Yes and no. There are other questions that must be asked. How old is the child? Is there another father figure in the child's life? If there is another father figure, there would have to be what is called a "Ross" hearing in Kansas. This must be done to determine if it is in the child's best interest to have a paternity test. I hope this helps. www.kansasfamilylawblog.com
