Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I have a question on common law in KS. If you live with someone for 14 years and you have been broken up for a year and a half and been living with someone else that entire year and half, are you still common law married to the person you were with for 14 years?

Not evryone that lived together are common law couples. But, if you met the criteria to be common law spouses, then it would take a divorce or annulment to undo it. Nobody is realy common law maried until someone has a court dtermine that such a union exisated. If your ex is not interested in asserting it, and there were no kids born during the cohabitation, then uit is unlikely that you would be barred from marrying your current partner.

Good luck
