Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
What would his rights be if he decided to fight for them?
I am an unmaried expectant mother. I found out about the baby just after my ex moved back to Texas. I have not told him yet but I am planning on doing so after I am more informed as to his rights. My main consern is would he be able to take my infant to Texas for his visitation. What is the mainstream way of dealing with visitation of an infant when the parents live in diffrent states? I have read that the father has no rights unless he goes to court for them this would be fine with me but should I get physical custody anyway? Thank You for your time.

My main thoughts upon reading our message were, "what kind of person is 'Father'? Do you and he have other children? Would he wish to spend meaningful time w/his child? It has been my experience that a child needs two parents. . .mom and dad to enable them to feel stability. If mom is the person who prevents that, when the child matures, they usually resent the person doing the w/holding. Do you plan to list the father on the birth certificate?
For your questions, yes, if a father was found to be able to provide for the needs of a small child, it is possible that, should visitation be granted him, the child would visit him in TX. If you anticipate (which you should) that the father will assist w/child support you will need to go to court to establish that amount. At that time, is it possible that you and he could agree about custody, visitation?
