Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

do i have any rights

i left my husband while i was in trucking school, he started to give me problems so i got my child that he waws watching practaly the first time in his life, thought he was being abused, and went to stay with one of my friends i made. he told the courts that i was on the road with my son wich i was for 4 days training and got off the road. he told him that he had no contact with me or our son,wich he did know wearabouts at all times and even taked to us. but i went to visit my brother and i got a call from him telling me he got temp. cust. of our son and took him from me. i have not til present recieved papers besides what i got from him. now he wont let me talk to him on phone or know the wearabouts of my son. he let me talk to him about 6 times since he took him. i was practially the only one that cared for him finacially and nurtured him for his first 4 years of his life now we cant have contact or nothing it has been almost a year now could you give me a direction to follow i do not know how to start something on this or if i have a chance

You need to enlist the assistance of an attorney to file for custody and/or for visitation. If you do not have funds to pay for an attorney you may try Utah Legal Services. The longer you wait the more difficult it will be for you to preserve your rights.
