Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I only get a small disability pension and my son's father has no living expenses and makes good money. He has lived with his parents for the past 6 yrs or his job pays his travel expenses (hotel, food allowance, reimbursement for mileage, etc..) Is there any way I can file to get child support pass the age of 18 because my son is going to college and I have been paying for everything his whole life except for the small amount of child support I get, he has been in contempt of the child support order since it was created. He has never paid me his percentage of medical bills or has not maintain insurance on him or he never would respond to SRS/DCF request for his salary for an increase in child support and I cannot afford thousands of dollars for an attorney unless it will be worth it. Can I do anything to get help for his expenses?

You pose several questions. Kansas law does not allow a judge to order college expenses to be paid, except to enforce such a provision that both parents agreed to in the original proceeding. It appears that you need assistance for collection of past-due support and medical expenses. Contact an experienced family law attorney to discuss those issues, including the cost of legal action. We are here to help.
