Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
Transfer of Jurisdiction
If you have an existing custody/visitation order in the state of California and the children have relocated to kansas with their mother, and are currently enrolled in school, once six months has passed can you file the original order from California in Kansas and petition the court for a modification, or do i have to apply for change of jurisdiction from California. I am looking to modify the current visitation order pro se and are not sure what I would need to do first. Does the order automatically transfer after six months?

Re: Transfer of Jurisdiction
i couldn't advise you in good faith to attempt anything pro se unless you have legal training w/re to transfer of jurisdiction of domestic cases interstate. Upon filing a Petition for modification of jurisdiction, the judges in the jurisdictions will communicate w/each other...i advise that you contact legal counsel to assist you w/this. goodluck
