Is a trust and a will the same thing ?

If not, what is the difference

Great question! No, wills and trusts are not the same thing, but they usually serve the same purpose: to eventually pass property to others. Wills are effective only upon the death of the will maker. Trusts can be effective immediately. There are too many similarities and differences to describe here. Wills and trusts are both effective estate-planning tools.
