Child custody is never deemed automatic in Kansas. Your daughter placing the father of the child on the birth certificate indicates that she had some thought about the best interests and welfare of her child at some time. . .KS courts place great emphasis on a child having access to both mother and father. She should Petition the Court in her jurisdiction to determine custody and appropriate visitation ASAP.
