Unless you can find a pro bono legal service or attorney, it will be necessary for you to raise some money for an attorney fee retainer. Some lawyers take credit cards. You may be able to borrow some money from a family member or friend. During the divorce, the judge may award you some attorney fees payable from your spouse if the judge believes it is proper to do so. A contested divorce is more expensive than an uncontested divorce, so plan accordingly.
