Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I will exsplain the best that i can. My daughter ex husbun's wife wants to adoupt my daughters son. She does not want to give up! It has been along time in and out of court, and she is out of money. She wrote the answere that they sent her,. but didnt go to court. So that her son would not get adopted. She does not want her rights taken. Well know the father has died we are trying to find out if the adoption went through. we can find notthing out. They have not let her see her son for a long time.But now the wife has him and is saying she adopted him. What can we do --no money but want the child back!

If the father passed, the mother has the right to petition for a change on the custody order. She may qualify for appointed counsel to assist her in this endeavor. If she goes to the Distric tCourt in the county where the child lived at the time she thinks the adoption muight have occurred, she cna find out if her parental rights were terminated. The Civil records clerk should be able to assist her in searching for that information, If not, then the Family Law court clerks may be able to assist her.
