Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas

Car reported stolen, owner did not keep full coverage current.

I co-signed for a vehicle 2 years ago for an ex. We split up and I recovered the car as she stopped paying. Spitefully, she reported the car stolen, informing the lein holder, assuring them she would send proof of full coverage insurance. Subsequently, she stopped paying on the insurance after asking the lein holder, Ford Credit, for a 2 month extension. I thought under the law, that she was required to keep full coverage if there was a lein, and the credit company was responsible for ensuring she keep this full coverage. My question is: Will I be held responsible for the remaining loan balance in light of the fact that she purposely dropped her coverage? How was I to be able to ensure she had full coverage insurance, as my only duty was the loan liability? Once she reported the car stolen, (and she knew it was not stolen, it was a ploy to spite me), the insurance would have paid a claim after the standard time period for stolen cars, and I would have not had too much liability as the insurance company would have nearly paid the loan, after deductibles and so forth. Please inform me as to what I should do. Thank you.

Pay the car loan. You remain liable for it.
