Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas

my daughter was engaged to be married. i spent 950.00 on a non-refundable wedding dress. 6 months before the wedding he told my daughter he had had an affair and fathered a child. my daughter called the wedding off and we still have the engagement ring. they want the ring back and to pay a portion of the dress. i have refused to give the ring back until i have received full payment for the dress. do i have any legal recourse or do i have to return the ring and be out the money for the dress?

Since your daughter called off the wedding, the ring must be returned, and potential groom may not owe for any part of the dress. If he is offering to pay for part of the dress, you might want to jump on that before he changes his mind. Obviously, these cases are very fact dependent. Therefore, you or your daughter may want to consult directly with counsel in your area, to credit advice specific to the facts of your case. Many attorneys offer a free or low cost initial consultation.

Good luck.
