Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas
lemon law
I live in Kansas and puschased a vehicle from a private individual in Missouri, in as is condition. I drove the vehicle to my home and discovered an oil leak. I took the vehicle to a repair shop and was told the engine was bad and would need to be either replaced or rebuilt. do I have any recourse what so ever?

Re: lemon law
This is a very common question. When you buy a vehicle "as is," that is what it means. You say that you drove teh car away form where you purchased it. That is more than you were guarenteed.
However, if the seller made specific representations about the condition of age of the engine, you may have a claim. If there was no false representation, then the facts you descibed do not lead to a a vialbe claim that I am aware of.
Why does an oil leak equal need new or rebuilt engine? Is there no lesser repair for a car that is driveable? Perhaps you could get a second opinion from another mechanic you trust.
Good Luck
