Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas

Right of Ownership

My ex girlfriend gave me a bed back in May and we then seperated in June. I told her she could take it back and she told me I could keep it. It is now December and she is saying that I have to give it back to her because it is hers, but I have already gave it to someone else. She is going to take me to court and all I have is her word versus mine. Is there any advice you can give me that might help?

Re: Right of Ownership

Tell the Court that she gave the bed to you in May. When you two split up in June, you offered to let her take it back. Tell the Court that she then told you to keep it. Tell the Court that you took that to mean that the bed was yours, and not that she wanted you to be a warehouse for her belongings.

If what you put in your factual description is true, these statements Should cause the judge to make your ex show why she has a right to a bed ( or the value thereof) that she gave it to you twice and/or abandoned for months. You might check to see what a storsage locker large enough to hold the bed would cost between June and when she sued you.

Good Luck
