personal property loaned to friend

I let an aquantance borrow my hundred dollar graphing calculater for school use, and i'd like it back now, but she keeps avoiding my phone calls, what should I do to get my stuff back? can I call the police? thank you.

Yes- You can call the Police and make out a report. Or, you can go to the police station and make awalk-in report. In either case, the police are not going to actively pursue it, unless your "friend" is an infamous crook otherwise already wanted by the police. However, once you get a copy of your police report, you can send a copy to your "friend" and perhaps she will realize that you are serious about wanting the calculator back.

If that does not work, you can sue her in small claims court.
