Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas
Stealing from company
I recently resigned from a company 1 year ago. I was contacted by their Asset Protection department about my Corporate Credit Card transactions while employed. I agreed to meet with the company representative about the charges. I was in a position where I did charge some personal items on the card. Since I was in marketing, I also charged items that were business related. After speaking with the company rep from asset protection, I asked if I could get an attorney. he stated no. After speaking with him, they are asking for a pretty nice handful of cash in return for the charges. The asset protection rep advised me that I can pay in payments. Now he said that after speaking with company lawyers, that is not an option. I feel that there has to be a way to let me have counsel representation and work out a plan that is feasible for all parties.
I felt very pressured and intimidated by the asset protection rep while he was doing the investigation. Any advice?

Re: Stealing from company
Get a lawyer. In America, we hold dear the right to effective counsel. Your former employer has no power to deny you representation. Of course, they are not going to pay for your attorney. Fidn an attonrey, and have them deal wiht your former employer.
Good Luck
