Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas

I have a title to a vehicle that i purchased on 6/10/10 for 300.00. The title is in a husband and wife name as and/or.The husband and wife are currently seperated. The person that I purchased the vehicle from is currently in jail and the wife of said person sent another person and the local police to get the vehicle back. The officer told me that I had to give the keys to this person and that my title that was issued by the state was not valid because it was a duplicate. what can I do to get my vehicle back and did they have the right to take said vehicle?

You will have to sue to quiet the title to this vehicle. you shoudl nto have turned over the keys or surrendered the title.
