Legal Question in Immigration Law in Kansas
Getting married need advice
I am a UK citizen and I am out of status in the US at present. I am getting married and I need to know if thiers anything I need to do before I get married or if I should wait until after I am married to do any paperwork. How to go about all of this is very confusing and I am lost as to what to do.

Re: Getting married need advice
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. My firm assists many clients through this process. You do not need to do anything prior to the wedding date, and, indeed, you can not file anything before then. However, I generally like my clients to have everything ready to go before the wedding date, so that the filing can be made as quickly as possible following the marriage. You will need to file for an immigration visa petition, to adjust status (for the green card), and employment authorization.
If you would like to contact my office for further assistance, please let me know.

Thank you for your inquiry. Our law firm specializes in Immigration Law and our law firm website is www.H1B1.com
Since you entered the U.S. legally, you can be sponsored and continue to remain in the U.S. after marriage to a U.S. citizen. You will be issued employment authorization. However, you will not be permitted to travel abroad until the marriage interview, at which time you will receive resident status.
Please call our law firm at 212-268-3580 if there are questions.

You may get married while in the US and file for an alien relative petition based on marriage to a US citizen.
You will be able to apply for work authorization but will not be able to leave the US without special permission before the interview date.
You may email me for more information and view my website at www.neenalaw.com
