Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Kansas

Using a song on my personal website

I will be developing a personal website that has soundbites from a local talk-show radio program. I would like to incorporate some music into these soundbites to create a montage. I wouldn't have the entire song on it, just parts of it. I will not be selling anything on this site. I've read a lot about ''Fair Use'' and other copyright material but I'm still not clear about my ability to legally do this.

Re: Using a song on my personal website

In my opinion, I would try to obtain a license before putting sound bytes on your website. I don't think that is fair use. Perhaps some copyright holders might love the exposure and give you permision to do it. Others would want to be compensated. Others might send you a cease and desist letter.I personally don't think it's worth the headache to do it without permission.
