Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Kansas
video dvd copyright
We own copyrights to video instruction tapes, which we formerly sold in VHS format and now sell as DVDs. Which, if any, of these are copyright violations? An individual who purchased a VHS tape converts it to DVD for personal use. A private guild that converts and shares DVDs among members. A public library that converts and lends to patrons.

Re: video dvd copyright
First example is clearly NOT an infringement.
2nd + 3rd MAY be infringement depending on TOU or user agreement entered into by initial Purchaser.
