Legal Question in Employment Law in Kansas

I was fired from a gas station 3 months ago and I have had trouble finding work. The only way I've been able to survive is unemployment. Today I got a letter in the mail saying I have a hearing in two weeks via phone to determine if I can keep getting unemployment or if I have to pay it all back. I was let go for forgetting to fill out my consumption log, which is a simple notebook that we right down what we ate. I didn't eat anything and I simply forgot. However, before this happened, another employee was fired for theft and tried to say everyone else was stealing too. I have text messages from my former boss stating that he warned me to be on my game and that he didn't want this it was "luci and christi". Luci is the girl that was fired. If I lose this case, I simply can't afford to pay anything back. What do I do?

It is not uncommon for wage and hour or the department of labor to hold telephone conferences. It does not mean that you are automoatically going to lose your benefits, if you have been honest about your attempts to find a new job. However, you should not take this conference too lightly. You might want to have an attornery look over your paperwork before the telephone confernece, to see if there are any special areas of concern. .

Good luck
