Legal Question in Employment Law in Kansas
Termination Due to Retaliation
employed with a federal halfway house. made 2nd shift supervisor with 2 months of being employed. after 2 months of being there i was always schedule with only myself in the building in charge of monitoring the movement in and out of the facility of 150 inmates and the rest of my staff were out of the facility on van runs. we were always understaffed. i voiced my concerns to my supervisor, and still 4 months later situation and lack of staff still the same. i contacted the BOP and asked what the staff+ratio of inmates should be. this was brought up to the director and she was not happy and let me know by her actions that she knew i contacted the bop. my name was given and now less than 30 days after i contact the bop i was advised by my director that she had heard that i was going to put in a two week notice and that they hired someone to fill my position. i am now out of a job. i believe my position was filled because she was mad that i went over her head. do you think i have a case?

Re: Termination Due to Retaliation
Under the facts you described, you may have a case under state or federal whistle blower legislation. You may only have short time in which to make such a claim. Contact an employment lawyer in your area directly. If you cannot find one that suits you from the telephone book, contact the State Bar Association in Topeka and they may be able to guide you to an attorney in your area. Do not delay.
