Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas

My 19 year old son is about to sign a lease with three friends. During a walk through they noticed the front door is broken and asked the landlord to fix it, he refused. Is he legally responsible to fix the door?

Any repais your Son wants done by the landlord, should be written on the lease. Otherwise he should negotiate the rent down, to cover him and his roomates making the repars. If that does not work, he shouldn't sign the lease and find another place.
