Can a apartment complex rent out my apartment after I have moved out but before the termination of my lease and receive money from both parties?

Any rental funds received for a period that the previous tenant paid are owed to that previous tenant. Sadly, most moving-out tenants don't realize that the landlord is getting double money, so they rarely demand it.
