Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas
I have a friend that has a former landlord using a collection agency to pressure her into giving them over $2000. She co-signed a lease with her parents before having to move out because of financial hardship and left a note explaining that she couldn't pay the rent. Does she have to pay back the money the agency says she owes?

Obviously, wihtout seeing any of the documents, it is impossible to determine how much your friend owes. However, unless the written lease says otherwise, financial harship does not excuse a tenant from owing rent.
Good luck
