Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas
I have a houseguest I no longer wish to stay in my house. I served a 60 day notice with witness signature and pictures of it posted prominently on her bedroom door. A sheriff deputy tells me a notice like that is "just a piece of paper" and I need to file something at the courthouse. The courthouse sent me office to office, and a lady at human relations gave me a piece of paper very similar to what I already served. I am confused. Besides having given 30 days longer than I needed to, is this eviction going to have any "teeth"?

Your posting is unclear. If the "Guest" refuses to leave, you'll need to get an Order for eviction, to have the Sheriff's deputy cone assist with putting her stuff out. The letter you dent helps you get that Order. Since you seem to be unfamiliar with the process, you need to consult directly with a civil practice attorney, in your area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. You may hire them to draft your documents, or to take over the eviction.
Good luck
