Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas

I have an international student as a roommate who did sign a lease agreement saying he'd be living there until the end of the semester. But recently it has come to my attention that he will be leaving a month earlier and when I confronted him about it and told him he would still have to pay the bills he used for november and the 200$ for rent in december he told me he would only give me 100$ for rent. Can I sue him in a claims court or any other way if he does not pay me the 200$ plus bills?

Under tht general facts you described, it appears that you can bring suit in small claims court. You may want to consult direclty with a civil practice attorney in your area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. They can look at the lease agreement you deacribed, and tell you if there are any facts in your case that make small claims not the best choice for you. You may even be able to have them help draft your small claims Petition.

Good luck
