Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas

I used to live in a duplex and fell behind on the rent. I tried to break the lease but was denied because I was already behind on the rent. It then turned to an eviction and now I don't live there of course, but I'm paying what I had owed plus the remainder of the lease. While at the same time the landlord have someone else living there and is collecting rent from them. Is that legal?

You are entitle to be credited for what the new tenant pays on what you owe for current rent. The landlord is not entitled to double rent payments.

Good luck
