Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas

I purchased money orders to my rent & I paid rent in November,now my landlord said he never got the rent .So I traced the money orders to see what happen and the money orders cam back and had been forged and cashed,So reported to the police and got a case going and contacted Western union where the money orders where purchased,and they said they would send me the form to report the fraud so i can try to get my money back.I have let the landlord know this,I have lived here for over 2 years, My landlord says I have to still pay november rent and january rent by January 3 or I will be evicted.what should I do?

You need to pay the rent, despite the theft. Unless the landlord, or their agent, 2 somehow involved, the rent remains unpaid. But, you did not describe the forget. If someone posed as the landlord to cash it, it may be on the landlord to show that they weren't the ones to cash it. If you're served with a Summons and Petition for eviction, use the cashed money order as a defense.
