Who has autuorithy to order autopsies in auto accident?

My brother was involve in an auto accident n which he was the passenger and kiled we believe instantly. They ordered and autopsy the body was never identified by anyone. The hospital said it was not their respondsibility to notify family, that was up to the county police dept.The body was transferred to another county for the autopsy.

What are our rights and how can I get all the final reports accident,autopsy,etc.

Collecting reports should be relatively easy. Someone should be representing the estate, not a lawyer but an executor or administrator. That person should be able to get copies of medical records and teh accident report with littel difficulty. That person will probably have to prove that he or she has authority to act. Usually a copy of a court order or a letter of appointment is sufficient.

With that info you can usually get the info you are looking for.

There are probably rules and laws that are specific to your state, that I am not familiar with. I do not practice in your state. The above is intended to give you a general idea of how this process works.
